Academic Year Abroad Paris at Paris IV & the Institut Catholique

If you are an intelligent, independent-minded student who, whatever your major, has studied French at a fine American or Canadian college or university, you ought to consider studying in Paris on a direct registration basis with Academic Year Abroad.

AYA offers its students the opportunity to study at the Université de Paris-Sorbonne (and other units of the Université de Paris) as well as the Institut Catholique. Classes are offered at all levels of study, and all courses (regular courses taken with Sorbonne students) are taught in French by regular university professors. Grades are accurately reported and transcripts are certified by the Sorbonne. The highest academic standards are maintained.

Paris, whose, influence upon French culture is enormous, is the ideal city in which to learn and perfect French. Students have the options of home-stays with families and an excellent program of cultural activities in classical theatre, music, and dance, as well as excursions to the Loire Valley and Mont Saint Michel.

AYA basic and housing fees are moderate. Given the recent decline of the Dollar in relation to the Euro, this is an important consideration. AYA also offers a number of scholarships. For application forms, visit our download page here.

While AYA Paris students enjoy a high degree of freedom, they rely on the AYA Director and assistants for advising and tutoring. The Director organizes excellent orientation sessions and language-reinforcement and specialized courses, acts on each student’s behalf at the university, and sees to the transmission of grades to the home institution. She maintains close contacts with the families involved in AYA home stays. The AYA Director and staff are among the most experienced in Paris.

Since its inception in 1960, the AYA Paris program has welcomed students from virtually every American college and university. In recent years the most prominent groups among AYA students have been those from Harvard, University of California, and Yale, and from Bard and Ripon, with which AYA maintains consortial agreements.

To put it simply, Academic Year Abroad stands for excellence. Why settle for less than the genuine university experience?
